Overview
The Police Officer plays a vital role in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within the community. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to serving and protecting citizens while upholding the law with integrity and professionalism. Officers are responsible for patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and engaging with the community to foster trust and cooperation.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol designated areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of crimes, accidents, and other incidents.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to investigations.
  • Enforce laws and regulations, including traffic laws.
  • Engage with community members to promote safety awareness and build relationships.
  • Provide first aid and CPR as needed during emergencies.
  • Handle animals in distress or involved in incidents, ensuring their safety and welfare.
  • Utilize surveillance techniques to monitor suspicious activities.
  • Manage conflicts effectively to de-escalate potentially volatile situations.

Experience
Candidates should possess a strong background in law enforcement or related fields. Preferred qualifications include:

  • West Virginia Law Enforcement Certification.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in conflict management strategies to resolve disputes peacefully.
  • Familiarity with surveillance methods for monitoring activities.

Requirements

  • Valid driver license
  • Pass drug screening
  • Pass medical/physical agility screening test
  • Pass criminal background screening
  • Must be willing to work evening, weekends and holidays

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $47,987.00 – $50,307.00 per year
