Regarding Water Quality Concerns

If you have black residue on your faucets and are having to change your in-home filters more often it is because of MaPSA nganese which is a natural element present in our water. This is not harmful to you or your pets and it is safe to drink.

 Our Downtown Treatment Plant has three filters which remove Iron & Manganese when backwashed. Due to the age of the filter media, the removal process is not as thorough as it could be. The city is about to start on a plant upgrade. In the project all three filters will be rebuilt with all new media. Once the project is completed, the iron and manganese levels will be reduced.
