Things to know….

  • All persons, firms, corporations, individual businesses, and citizens are required to use the City sanitation, garbage, and rubbish collection service, and no such person, firm, corporation, church institution, whether charitable or not, shall be exempt from using and paying for such service.

Residential and Basic commercial garbage is picked up once a week. 

 

Fees and Charges

  • Residential garbage is $16.00 per month.
  • Basic commercial garbage is $33.50 per month.
  • For information on dumpster fees please contact the city building.
  • Special pickups can be requested for the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month starting at $15.00 and are subject to additional fees at the discretion of the garbage crew. The fee is added to the next month’s bill.

 

Customer Responsibilities.

  • No person shall store or permit the storage of refuse on or about his premises, or the premises occupied by him, unless such refuse is kept separately in garbage containers.
    • “Garbage container” means a water-tight can for the deposit of prepared garbage, which shall be made of metal or heavy-duty plastic, have a close­fitting cover, have a capacity of not less than ten or more than thirty gallons, and be equipped with at least two carrying handles.

 

  • Containers required – Every customer must keep separate garbage containers. It shall be the duty of every occupant to dispose of nothing but garbage or paper in the garbage containers. The garbage must be prepared in appropriate trash bags before being placed in the containers and loose garbage is not permitted in the containers.
  • Excessive refuse – If the garbage collection crew deems that a location has excessive refuse or refuse items outside of required garbage containers, customers may be subject to the special pickup fee. This charge will be added to the next monthly bill.
  • Prohibited Standard residential or business garbage – Sewage, human feces, the carcasses of animals, trees, tree trimmings or brush, chemicals, tires, or material resulting from the demolition, repair, alteration or erection of buildings or structures.
